Craig Young Baseball Scholarship
The Fund is established to honor Craig Young who served as head baseball coach for 16 years at Middle Georgia College (now Middle Georgia State University). Coach Young’s success began just two years after he assumed the helm in 1997, when his 1999 team won the region tournament and he was named region coach of the year. He was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013. Four of his teams in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2009 advanced to play in the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. Craig graduated from high school in Blairsville, Georgia and played both football and baseball at Georgia Southwestern College. He served as head baseball coach at Elbert County High School and at Abraham Baldwin College. Payout of funds shall be used to award a scholarship to a full-time Middle Georgia State University student on the baseball team with a minimum 2.5 GPA who displays good moral work ethic and does not have any disciplinary actions. Preference should be given to a student who has completed at least two semesters.
